Philosophy comes to FCCU!!!

The department of Philosophy at Forman Christian College was reinstated last spring. It was a historic moment that brought delight to the entire community at FCC. To celebrate the event, the Philosophy Department in collaboration with FOLIO organized an event called “Philosophy Comes to FCC” on Monday, 31 January in the Armacost Science Building Auditorium.

Chairperson of the Philosophy Department, Dr Myron M Miller introduced the new academic programs and courses offered by the department. Guest speaker, Dr Ghazala Irfan from LUMS, spoke about the importance of “Philosophy in the life of Pakistan”. Dr Grace Clark, another guest speaker gave a short presentation on “Philosophy and the Structure of Society”. Dr Waseem Anwer (Dean of Humanities, FCC) expressed his well wishes for the new department.

Students also participated in the event and asked interesting questions from the panel. A skit was performed by three students depicting the key areas of the subject.
The FOLIO team organized the event and took active participation to make it a success.

FOLIO Participated in the Societies Fair 2010

FOLIO Team participated in the Societies' Fair being conducted by Director Students' Activities, FCC. All the societies set up their stalls, banners and colorful charts to specially attract the freshman and first year students and opened their membership for them. However role of FOLIO was bit different from the other societies in the event as FOLIO doesn't offer membership, all the Formanites are already members of FOLIO and get the magazines and invitations to other FOLIO events free of charge. During the event FOLIO team distributed the complementary copies of FOLIO 2008 and 2009 to the newcomers. Also lots of interested students filled and submitted their Participation Forms at the stall. FOLIO team also distributed plenty of colorful paper slips having the URL to the FOLIO online survey form: www.tinyurl.com/folioform Students are actively participating in this survey form. We are getting lots of useful suggestions and helpful feedback from there.
FOLIO's stall was a huge success in the event and kudos to all the FOLIO team for working in perfect coordination and generating the enough interest in FOLIO 2010 which is about to publish as well as spreading the word out that FOLIO 2011 is going to be very innovative and we are desperately looking forward for creative people, especially for writers and graphic designers.

Write!

First of all welcome to the Folio blog. This is the first post and we are very excited to have you here. Thinking in terms of writing is a best way to reflect and organize your thoughts. We write not because we are afraid to speak. We write because we want to understand, elaborate, explain, fantasize and sometimes distort our realities and our existence in them. The process doesn't start when you sit down to jot down your thoughts. It starts from the point when you try to figure out in your head that what you are going to write. It is a laborious job, we know that, but you never know its outcome. It may amuse you or even you may get horrified by it but the best thing is; it is a part of YOU! A reflection of YOURSELF on a piece of paper! We at the Folio believe that everybody has something important to write, something amazing to compile and something extraordinary to be published. If you write we are anxiously waiting to read your writings or even if you’ve only scribbled down few words, we are more than happy to shape them and discuss them with you. The only message is just WRITE!!! And email us your writings, or find our representatives around the campus or be a guest at the Office of the Folio. We love to READ from YOU!
